I was first introduced to Parker-Anderson through my husband, Niels. It was the summer we met, 2012, and he was working as an instructor teaching mainly science courses, his specialty. I remember him telling me how much he enjoyed working with Jamie and Josh and how much he was discovering his passion for teaching science. A year later, when we moved to Orange County, Niels' schedule didn’t allow him to continue teaching with the Orange County branch. However, at the time, I was looking for a job in that area, so I turned to Parker-Anderson. Starting as an instructor gave me valuable experience teaching most of the classes from the list of offerings. I, like my husband, enjoyed working as an instructor and being part of the Parker-Anderson team. So, when the previous Orange County director left and Josh and Jamie offered me the director position, I immediately accepted. And when Parker-Anderson started looking towards franchising, I knew that I wanted to invest more of myself into the company by purchasing the Orange County branch as a franchise. Not only have Josh and Jamie been incredibly supportive throughout the transition, my passion for what Parker-Anderson does has increased tenfold. Getting to work with schools offering much needed programs after school and during summer has been incredibly rewarding both mentally and financially. Niels and I are honored to be Parker-Anderson's first franchisees and look forward to many wonderful years to come.
After working at Parker Anderson Enrichment for a couple of years, I was offered the chance to own my own franchise. I jumped into the opportunity head on and have never looked back. In mid-2018, I became a franchisee of a territory in Northern California and was hopeful yet unsure about my prospects as a new business owner with limited managerial experience. I was confident in my ability to connect with people, specifically principals and after-school coordinators, but wary of my ability to keep up with the bureaucratic day-to-day communication one must master to be successful in this ever-shifting field. That worry is now gone. In just a few short months, I have successfully negotiated contracts with 8 schools and I'm proud to say that all have been satisfied with their experience, many opting to renew their contracts. Additionally, I just received confirmation that two more schools, possibly three, will be added to the roster in January '19 and I couldn't be more excited to see where this opportunity continues to go. It should be noted that there is a backbone to every successful operation and all PAE franchisees are fortunate to have Jennifer Rosenblatt as their 'Franchise Director.' The ability to operate as a small business with large corporate backing gives us a strategic advantage over the competitors in our market. Having 15 initial classes to offer instead of just a few makes PAE a “one stop shop”, which no other franchise can offer. The Central LA/Ventura/San Diego operation started in 2020. We started teaching virtually and to date, our franchise serves over 8000 students per year, teaching in person camps and classes. We have a team of 50 instructors that work with us and an internal team of 5. This has all been made possible by the support from the LA office and Josh Parker, especially. I started with Parker Anderson in 2015 as an instructor teaching in several of their locations within the Los Angeles County area. Although, I have been in the business for 20 years the opportunity came up that allowed me to invest in their educational enrichment programs. Over the past year being a franchisee has allowed me to grow professionally and financially. During the course of building my franchise in the DC-Maryland area I have faced challenges. However, with the help and expertise of Parker-Anderson providing support I have grown leaps and bounds.
